unbuntu sofeware program will not open

I cant get the Ubuntu Sofeware Center to open. Only the white information box appears but nothing else and to close that out I have to reboot. All other programs function normally. Help
I should have to click on it twice.

Try a re-installation of Ubuntu Software Center

From terminal [Ctrl]+[Alt]+t

sudo apt-get -y remove --purge ubuntu-software-center

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get -y install ubuntu-software-center

sudo update-software-center
