Have you tried other browsers?

i've tried it with firefox. yep. it takes forever to load. some sites are created by morons.
same result with konqueror. it seems to be downloading 210 B/s.
so, the site is either overriddent with irrelevant and nasty stuff or their server is old and bad.

Probably a slow site or web server.

The only other browser i've tried is Internet Explorer on a Windows
machine, this works good every time. the problem is i dont want to use
Windows, the next course of action would be to try Chrome but Marcus
said Konqueror had the same problem. thought it must be web site, any
fixes for Ubuntu? On Fri, 2011-11-25 at 10:21 +0000, actionparsnip

Try using tls and turn off ssl. Firefox/edit/preferences/advanced.
Verizon wireless used to have a similar problem which was fixed by turning off the ssl checkbox.

That site's problem is also flash related -- I default to suppressing flash, and the page never showed up fully, but allowing flash (I use noscript), things showed up right away.

Could try chromium-browser (which is in the repos). See how that goes.

tried turning off SSL and no difference, the flash I'm using is Adobe flash plug-in for Mozilla version 11.1.102.55ubuntu.10.04.1
Only seems a problem with this site.

Actually, when I clicked on the noscript "temporarily allow" that turned on javascript too. Then the site came right up. I'm using the same flash, and had the same problem with the site at first, so maybe the SSL is not an issue here, but javascript and flash are. I'm not doing anything with a user agent (but one is installed) to change what the site sees (using the default, which Might be IE -- never really could tell what the "default" is).

Java script is on, and problem persists. Chrome on windows works OK, must be something with Ubuntu/Linux with this site.

Try to run firefox without any plugin active from terminal type:

firefox -safe-mode

YES that works every time! So the issue is with Firefox plug in? how do I deal with this, or do I have to use safe mode?

Run the browser and disable the plugins one at a time. When it runs ok, you know it's that one

went to see which plugins were running and found none, went back to trying firefox in safe mode and back to the original problem, guess it must have been a fluke that the site was responding at the time i was trying in safe mode. with this site guess its MS windows or nothing.

I bet there are a few web servers and one is new and fast while the others are slow. It's just my guess

I think you're probably right, why IE always works though is a puzzle.
