Firefox 8.0 can open a specific page

Asked by Paul Stumpf

Hello,

after upgrading from Firefox 7.1 to Firefox 8.0 with
http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/firefox-stable/ubuntu
I can not open http://www.aerztezeitung.de the Medical Journal.

Does anyone have the same problem and knows the solution?

I have already published the problem here.

Paul

Hi,
I have closed all browsers and run mv ~/.mozilla/firefox ~/.mozilla/firefox_old

Then I rerun the browser.

You can see the message here in the screenshot.

Ok then close the browser and run:

rm -r ~/.mozilla/firefox; mv ~/.mozilla/firefox_old ~/.mozilla/firefox

Have you tried other browsers?

Yes, for example my Opera version 11.52 opens the page http://www.aerztezeitung.de/ without problems.

See Screenshot here: http://media.cdn.ubuntu-de.org/forum/attachments/3644192/Bildschirmfoto-Arzte_Zeitung_Online_-_Opera.png

Other Users from the ubuntuusers.de forum reported the following.

User Eisbach: On Debian with FF 8.0, I can easily access the site!

User skull-y : I can not confirm it, but I use FF 8 under Archlinux.

User Roxel: In my case the error occurs in FF 8 on Lubuntu 11.10

As it looks, I guess the problem with FF 8 on Ubuntu/Lubuntu

Best regards
Paul

Can you provide a direct link (or links) to the forum topic (or topics) where those users have reported their experiences? (It's OK if the discussion there is not in English.)

Did you try running the command that actionparsnip suggested (in post #4 as numbered at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+question/179280) and restarting Firefox?

The direct link to forum topic where other users have reported their experinces :

http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/kann-mit-firefox-8-0-eine-bestimmte-seite-nich/

After post #3 I execute the command rm -r ~/.mozilla/firefox; mv ~/.mozilla/firefox_old ~/.mozilla/firefox

an restarted Firefox.

Unfortunately, the problem is still there.

Best regards
Paul

Hi, I'am providing more information:

I have subscribed the daily Newsleter from Aerzte Zeitung <email address hidden>

I receive it with my E-Mail Client Thunderbird 8.0 and can't open any Link inside the Newsletter with Firefox 8.0

I change in system settings preferred application Opera as the default Webbrowser an have no Problem to open the Links inside the Newsletter.

Best regards
