icons missing bar, font, bold, image etc.

Asked by Pepe

I have been getting some attempts but no one is sure where it is wrong.

The bar with icons on top of blog.

The one with formatting, fonts, bold, italic, items, spelling etc.

The icons are missing on my Ubuntu computer.

I mention Ubuntu now because I used my Window XP computer to access the blogs and the icons are there.

I don't remember changing anything.

But for sure, it is not Blogger, it is the Ubuntu OS. Can somebody tell me how to fix it?

Please, no sudo this and sudo that.

Thanks
Pepe

Does this bar appear on your blog only when you are logged in to Blogger?

Yes, it is the ordinary bar for useful tools used in blogging regularly. Everyone uses these tools to do their blogging. The bar is a Blogger tool that can be used even though you cannnot see the icons. Thanks

(1) Are you logged in to Blogger on the Ubuntu system, like you are on the Windows system?

(2) Is the bar part of the web page, or is it a web browser plugin?

(3) Does the bar appear if you log in to your Ubuntu system (not to Blogger, but to your Ubuntu system) using a different user account? If you only have one user account on your Ubuntu system, then you can create a second one for testing purposes.

(4) Does the bar appear if you access Blogger using a different web browser? (This is for testing, I am not saying that you should accept migration to a new browser as a solution to the problem.) For example, if you are currently using Firefox, then you could try Chromium (which you can get by installing the package called chromium-browser in the Software Center).

I log into Blogger from the favorites in windows or bookmarks in ubuntu.

The bar appears only when you are going to do some blogging. It is a very useful tool for blogging. It is never used anywhere else that I know of, just when you are going to do some blogging. Formats, fonts, sizes, colors, insert item, photos, graphics, alinement of paragraphs, spell check etc. All across the bar and only in Blogger.

I tried to update Firefox, but some thing doesn't work. I sent for a solution. I may have to go the Chrome even though I have used firefox for ages. Thanks

"I tried to update Firefox, but some thing doesn't work."

Is that to say that you attempted to update Firefox but you were not able to update it?

If so, how did you try to update it?

And when you said that you sent for a solution, what do you mean, exactly?

I updated by downloading as per their instructions. It went into my down loads folder. I extract and it set up the new folder. I deleted the old folder from my Home Folder and moved the new one in its place. Doesn't work. I contacted them for a solution and have not received an answer.

One more day and I will install Chrome and hope for the best. Thanks

If you follow the instructions on the Mozilla website for installing a newer version of Firefox, then that should have worked, but that is not the recommended way to get a newer version of Firefox on an Ubuntu system.

So first, you should make sure that non-working newer version is *not* installed, by reversing whatever steps you did complete before. If you are at all unsure of how to do this or whether or not you were successful at doing so, please post to indicate that, and I (or someone) can provide specific assistance.

After doing that (or before doing that, if you are unsure how to proceed), please open a Terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run this command, by copying it to the clipboard, pasting it into the Terminal, and pressing enter:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; apt-cache policy firefox; firefox -v; which -a firefox

If that command is split into two lines in your email then you should copy it from https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+question/175961 instead.

After running that command, please select all the text in the Terminal (Edit > Select All), copy it to the clipboard (Edit > Copy), and paste it here. That will provide valuable information about your system relevant to upgrading Firefox.

That's it. Once I get the terminal I am out. Thanks I have no choice but to try Chrome. Over and out.
