how to write text in another language?

You need to install the Spanish layout in Ubuntu. Go from "System --> Preferences" and select "Keyboard". Click on the "Layouts" tab and using the "Add"ton you can select the language of your preference.

Did you try changing your keyborad configuration?

Changing the layout of the keyboard only works if you have a keyboard for that language. If your problem is with accents, there is a workaround, you can use compose keys to accent words. System Settings > Keyboard layout > Layouts > Options> Compose key position> mark one of the keys, I use Right Alt.
To put a accent at a letter just hit the compose key first

It also works if you happen to know the keyboard layout--then a keyboard of one language can be used to type in another language, even though they keys on it are not labeled helpfully.
