surf the channel

Website surfthechannel.com will not progress beyond "go to host site" in Karmic, 64 bit. It will play flash. I have liferea installed as well.

Sounds like a bug needs filing. Try closing all borowsers and running this command:

mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla_old

then rerun firefox, this will give default settings to test. If its still bad then a bug sould be filied. You can restore your profile by closing all firefoxes and running:

rm -rf ~/.mozilla; mv ~/.mozilla_old ~/.mozilla

You will now have your old settings. I'd also send an email to the webmaster stating your issue, they may have a solution themselves.
