Google Gears not working

Asked by zimmerman.howard

I am trying to utilize Google Gears in Firefox 3.5.5 on Ubuntu 9.10. I get an error that Gears is not supported in this release. Is there a fix or patch in the near future? Is there a work-around in the meantime?

Try installing the 'gears' package in synaptic or via 'sudo apt-get install gears'. That's an ubuntu-specific build of gears.
Hope this helps.

Can you please check again, I have gears working fine in FF 3.5.5 and I
installed it from the google gears website. Just reboot your system and
then clear out the cache and other history stuff.

I had the same problem in Firefox 3.6.8 but installing the "gears" package via apt-get did the trick for me. Thanks Don!

Can you help with this problem?
