Quick set up for a web cache program for Ubuntu

I would like a easy quick link for a app that offers me web cache I.E. squid for example also, i would like to know if Ubuntu needs an anti virus software installed . if so please advise of a free 1 . And last but not least how do I save desktop icons or is it even possible. Thank you for taking the time for reading this and have a wonderful day

Where exactly do I type this , in the address bar all in one fell swoop or type in terminal then hit enter and follow steps.Also do I do it after I try and say add flock to my desktop, or before. Wow i'm totally lost

plus i could use some help with a link to install the plug ins and the purple what ever it is please.Also is clamav and squid necessary to have?

If so what version of each?

Sorry! Applications>accessories>rerminal and type gconf-editor amd window will pop up and on the left side you will see apps>nautilus<desktop and when you are in desktop check (on the right side) icons to be visible.

I will say no,except if you are running server an you need to protect your clients.If you are running desktop let other people (your friends and others you are in contact) take care of their comps.

Witch plugins?And codecs maybe?Be more descriptive to get better and faster help.
