Have you tried another web-browser such as Opera? Does that give the same problem?

Good luck with this, regards from
Tom :)

No. I can not even connect to anything. as soon as I turn the computer on it will not go past the home page not available warning. I have not a clue what to do with it.

You login and get to the Ubuntu desktop with a taskbar at the top and bottom of the screen? Try clicking on the double monitor icon up by the time/calendar, this should open network-manager and let you see some settings. I was also wondering how you are trying to connect to the internet - do you have an ethernet cable plugged in or do you use wireless? Also are you using a Lan networking with other machines or are you directly connected to the router box that connects to the outside world?

Sorry no answers, only questions at the moment.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

I can not even get that far to get a taskbar the only thing I get when I turn the computer on is a error that home page does not exist it will not do anything else. I an not connected to the internet when this is happening. it is a wireless computer. The only thing that I can think to do is take is somewhere and have it looked at. I think I locked it somehow.

Sorry it's taking me ages to respond - i've just been painting the house but that's just about done now, or at least as much as i can do until my flatmate goes on holiday again ;)

Do you have an Ubuntu Cd (or another distro) that you can put in your Cd drive and see if you can boot from that? If so then you should be able to access your data and settings, hopefully. If you can remember what you were changing then maybe it would be worth posting a new question 'how to change it back, from the command-line!'. Lol, good luck with this!

I think you might just need to reinstall your grub-boot-loader to solve this? Does that sound right? If so please let me know if you had Windows as well as Ubuntu? We will need to find which partition your Ubuntu usually runs from but hopefully that wont be too hard, once i've recovered from the paint fumes.

Please let me know how it goes with booting up from Cd.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Is it that you cannot access home page or home folder? It may be that the permissions on the home folder may be incorrect.

Can you help with this problem?
