What kind of wireless card does your computer use?

I just installed Ubuntu within Windows with the same problem. I made a new internetconnection and filled in the information needed manually. Also I've deleted my router in the list.
Use the menu item system, preferences, network configuration.

Does this help?

It looks like you have a Broadcom wireless card, several Broadcom cards are known to not play nice with Linux. You are probably best off trying to use either NDISwrapper to hack your Windows wireless driver into working on Linux or try to use the bcm43xx driver to get your card working. Link to further info on NDISwrapper here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper, and here: http://easylinuxwifi.org/ If you need any further information, please look at the Ubuntu forums or Google. Link on bcm43xx: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185174 and http://bcm43xx.berlios.de/ and as always Google is your friend. Good luck. Also, if you are considering buying a new computer, you may want to look at the Intel wireless cards, as they are generally well supported and pain-free.

Additionally, you can get an add-on card, just make sure it uses the Zydas 1211 chipset, as this wireless card has open-source drivers available for Linux.

Can you help with this problem?
