ubuntu boots up looking a host server. never finds one and continues to loop. What do I do? The error msg is "XDMCP enabled" (?) Thanks
I have used Ubuntu 8.1 for about a year and have installed all the updates. Recently I was messing with preferences and changed something I guess I shouldn't have. Now when I turn on the computer It looks for a host server but never finds one. It continues to loop when I press cancel. When I press 'help' it gives me an 'XDMCP enabled' error. I'm guessing I changed something to do with 'X' server or whatever. I'm a novice at this OS and can't boot up unless I put the CD in. Everything works fine then except I can't access my usual stuff. I was wondering if re-installing OS would help, or would I loose all my stuff. Very confused.
