What is the "quota" listed in folder properties?

Asked by Denis H.

Where does Evolution get a value for "quota", and how can I set it? I searched the manual for the word, but came up with nothing. Is there a way to see the usage in bytes rather than %?

Evolution gets the quota information from the mail server, and you'll have to
configure the quota on the mail server itself.

As for displaying the usage, after quick perusal of Evolution 2.26.1 sources, it appears to me
that there is no other way to see the usage than as a percentage used.

If Evolution does in fact get the quota from the server, that would be
OK. However, I looked at a number of folders and they all showed
using 3% of quota, except for some which had no entry at all on % of
quota. I summed the sizes of all items in one folder which showed 3%.
That total came to 1% of the quota (as listed by my isp.) What am I
missing? Is there a way to get from Evolution what it is using as the
quota?

Thanks,
-Denis

More info--perhaps it can be considered solved. I sent myself a
message of size about 1/2 the quota, and the % changed to 55%, so I
guess Evolution has the right quota. Why the 1%/3% discrepancy occurs
is not known, but perhaps it does not matter as long as the larger
percentages are closer to correct.

Is it possible that a quota usage shown for any particular folder is actually the total amount of
quota used for the whole email account? It just seems fishy that all folders just happen to use
the same 3% of the quota...

Can you help with this problem?
