Evolution window resolution and oversized windows

I have installed version 6.10 on a 5 year old Compaq Presario with onboard graphics. I seem to be encountering problems with the main display window in Evolution where the actual windows are larger than the display and I can't seem to resize the window properly. No scroll bar appears indicating that the window thinks that it is entirely displayed on the screen. In spite of this all messages selected, display correctly in their respective windows. Other called windows seem to also display correctly.

Other applications such as Firefox display o.k. I have downloaded and installed all updates.

The Screen Resolution selected in preferences is 800X600 (best resolution available).

I also had similar resolution issues during the installation and could barely see the tops of the selection buttons to move the installation forward.

I have installed Ubuntu on three other different computers (one older than this one) and never encountered this issue before.

Yes,

I have experimented with my desktop. Even though I'm on 7.04, the Evolution main window cannot be resized to less than 817ish pixels wide.
I guess this has been choosen by the Evolution developers as the minimum acceptable size to be able to display properly.

Thank you Cesare... Wow! An actual software resolution limitation.
There is no way I could have figured this out for myself. I guess I will
have to invest in a cheap video card to upgrade to 1024 X 768. I
appreciate you insightful assistance.
