I cannot access Ubuntu 9.10 after removal of Evolution mail

Ubuntu shows a dark screen after login. Recovery mode is available but no packages are being installed. Responses are: failed to fetch, and permission denied. What I need to understand is, is this OS recoverable, or should it be reinstalled/upgraded, etc.. Best regards, BlueSkies

Karmic is no longer supported in any way. Karmic was dead on 30th April 2011, some 16 months ago. I suggest you clean install with Precise and it will be supported until 2017.

Thanks for your reply. I'm assuming that support for Jaunty J-- is
also dead. So there is no way to reinstall Evolution mail? BlueSkies

Yes, the earliest release supported is Lucid, it has less than 9 months support left and Natty is EOL in October. Maverick is EOL and no longer supported.
