evolution: mail box vanished, still there in directory

Asked by stuart macgregor

This morning I went to look at my mail, and evolution will not show any inbox or any folder except search. My inbox is in the .evolution/local/ directory, and evolution even added new messages to it this morning (viewed using more).

evolution was working yesterday, and the machine has not been switched off.

Any idea what has happened, or how to fix it?

Do your accounts still exist?

The inbox re-appeared magically, but with an odd twist: all new mail was
put in junk!

I have copied and imported my Mailbox to kmail, which loaded it happily,
including new material which evolution had happily and invisibly
downloaded. (I tried thunderbird first but it failed to see the import)

Does this cover the question?

There was only the one account on the client.

Looks like I will set up the account on kmail and use that.

PS I am replying from another machine I use during the week, using
evolution to read the same pop server account (different send address).

Sounds like this fixed it. I too have seen spam filter plugins for Evolution do this same thing also. Glad you removed it from junk before it was pruned.

If this is solved, mark this question as solved, if not let us know where you are at.

Cheers.
