how do I access ascii codes in ubuntu

Asked by Andrew Dungan

I am trying to include Spanish language letters in my e-mails and open office documents. In MS applications I am able to access Spanish letters by using the ALT key and the ASCII code for the letter. This does not work in my linux based apps - Open Office and Evolution e-mail.

Any suggestions?

or

Applications->Accessories->Character Map

i've tried it in open office (gnome) and for me it worked like that:

hold Ctrl+Shift type u0056 and hit enter while still holding Ctrl+Shift (that should show å)
