trying to print a doc downloaded from web the only option is 'print to file', why can I not print to a printer

I downloaded a 'year planner' from the net and cannot print it as the only option given is 'print to file'.
This 'year planner' is saved in a folder, but even then the only option is to' print to file'. I would like to have a hard copy of the 'year planner'.

i wonder had you installed a printer to your system
this might be a problem regarding your cups
