How secure is the login process?

I would like to connect to my Google account with Empathy. How secure is the login process? Is the login data encrypted during authentication?

Hi,
when adding your Google Talk Account in Empathy you can ask for TLS/SSL encryption in the Advanced Menu

The SSL encryption is pretty strong and secure, so you can rely on it :)
