I cannot send text messages through aim account on empathy

When i try to message a cell phone on my Aim account through Empathy i get:

Error sending message '': unknown 12:18

(number date & time)
Unable to send message: Not logged in

Anyone know how to fix this?

I am running ubuntu 10.10 netbook remix
latest version of empathy
I tried running it through pidgin as well, still does not work....

this is an easy fix, you need a country code, area code, and then the phone number, your format would look like this: +AZZZXXXXXXX
"A" would be your country code, if your in the US it would be 1
the "Z"s would be your area code
The "X"s would be the phone number
Yes i believe that the + sign is needed

Thank You but I have done this and it still does not work, before the 10.10 netbook remix update I could text people just fine through empathy,
