ununderstood data member

Asked by Michael Zachar

updating software on my computer and downloading required packages is ok but installation part bombs out. Each .deb package fails with message from dpkg-deb with message that packages have ununderstood data member data.tar.xz in deb package and all instalations fail.At same time synaptic package manager with same download packages has no problem at all.
It seems there is some inconsistency between aptitude and synaptic that is causing this to happen as using aptitude before zwas working fine.

Whatever you did, it did not work. Please copy and paste the output as plain text into https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/+question/693344
