Synaptic error

Asked by wlgoode

When I open Synaptic I get the following error. I tried some of the other fixes for similar problems answered on Launchpad but no results -

E: Type 'html' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

Thanks in advance, wlgoode

One of your software sources files is corrupt.

Can you post the contents of the following file...

Open a terminal window (Applications menu, Accessories) and type...

sudo cat /etc/apt/sources.list

and also

sudo cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list

I am guessing the latter one has some dodgy entry and needs to be edited (or deleted if not in use)
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list
