Update to 3.9.0

Asked by Isaac Puch Rojo

The ddclient v3.9.0 was releases on 09.08.2018. Ubuntu has only the 3.8.2, that don´t work with cloudflare and other providers.

How could it help to update it?

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later. Ubuntu is not a rolling release distribution and packages can be left in favour of stability. This is especially true in the LTS releases.

There may be a PPA here on Launchpad.net. Obviously the usual caveats that come with PPAs apply.

Manfred Hampl suggests this article as an answer to your question:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas?name_filter=ddclient

Filter each PPA for your release. You can see this with:

lsb_release -c

May help you get the newer version

You have to be aware that Ubuntu is taking over packages from Debian (to avoid double packaging work), and as far as I can see also Debian has only version 3.8.2.
First steps towards binging version 3.9.0 to Ubuntu are creating a bug report for Ubuntu (already done by somebody else, Bug #1800150 ) and creating a bug report in the Debian bug tracker (unless such bug report already exists there).

An updated package is in progress and will be uploaded to Debian soon. After it is accepted by Debian, it will automatically be included in the next Ubuntu release.

In the meantime, you can use the packages from the official PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ddclient/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

Can you help with this problem?
