cups package

can not locate printer

Asked by Kathy Valley

Under administration there is not even a print option...print /printer is not there.
Everything I have read regarding to install a printer says start with Administration/print
but I can not because that option is not there??!!

Thank you...however, how do I get to a screen to that???
(linux newbie)

open a terminal and type:

system-config-printer

Its a terminal command

press CTL+ALT+T to open the terminal

Thank you....it worked...
However, it does not list the printer I have...Canon Pixma iP 1600

Canon doesn't do drivers for that exact model.

That site no longer exists...however, after reading all that I have read, I think I am going to try and install a different printer...but, the information you gave me regarding being able to add a printer was wonderfullll!!! thank you!
