Dell Photo 924 - how to work on UBUNTU 10.04?

Asked by Syed Wasfy

I am running UBUNTU 10.04 (I think), trying last several months to let my Dell Photo 924 work. But could not find any driver. Can anyone know how to start working this color printer? Or any driver that accept thsi printer?

Printer is connected with computer through USB cable. Not with serial or
parallel port. So we may try some ways???

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

lsusb

the "lsusb" command = lower "LSUSB"

Copy and paste the result here

Thank you

Seems to use the very top HP deskjet driver in the printer list when you add a printer.

What is this?

CUPS server error

There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-possible'.

Probably a bad driver then. I have only seen this sort of solution on these printers. I'd post on the forum to see if anyone has a solution too.
I suggest you buy HP printers in future, HP drivers are part of a default Ubuntu and HP love Linux

User tested lexmark driver.

Above page was pointed to from here.

## In those threads links to mentioned lexmark pages don't exist anymore, but found another page.
http://www.nodevice.com/driver/company/Lexmark/Printer/page3.html

e.g. the Z615 driver was recommended there.

I am still struggling. I went into System -- Admin -- Printing -- Add
printer Dell Photo 924.

When list of driver shows on the screen, I chooses HP and in driver
click on "deskjet". It loaded this driver and then open a window and
asked if I wish to a TEST page. I click yes, it does says on screen
"Printing" but printer does not show any motion at all.

So, I am back in square one.
