Clamav

Asked by vasista

Hi,

Have installed clamav from Synaptic Package Manager, i am able to scan but unable to update the virus definition files or clamav. Ran freshcalm from /etc/clamav but did not help in anyway, it says that i am running an older definition version.

Later installed GUI calmtk from the same Synaptic Package Manager. When goto Applications-System Tools-Virus Scanner, i see antivirus engine and GUI version or outdated (i see in red). I click Help-Update Signatures and select check for updates. It checks and tells me that signature updates are current and GUI updates has newer version but unable to update anything from thier.

Please help to have my clamav up-to-date.

Thanks in advance.
Akhilesh

open clam click the help tab then when the next window opens click the blue link in it . it will take you clam av home page scroll down to ubuntu/debain click it then save to downloads . after finished close all windows open . now go to places click on the downloads ,when it opens , right the clamav package then click open with getdeb package installer. it will say an older version is already installed close that window ,installthe new one . after finished close and check clamav to see if it fixed it . it will be listed under application - accessories - clamav .

Hi,

Greg, i was successfully able to install the package using as per your advice. Now it says GUI version is 4.27 and its current but antivirus engine is still 0.95.3 :(

Marco, i tried updating the definition files by using the cmd "Sudo freshclam" but it throws me the below error, before giving the below error its tries to download the definition files 5 times from the site,

"none of the mirrors is listed in /etc/clamav/freshclam.conf/".

Please advice.

Hi Greg,

I did that, its says updated but on status, it still shows red (version - 0.95.3).

When i run the cmd "sudo freshclam" from terminal, it says that the newer version is 0.96.1but does not download and gives me an error as "none of the mirrors is listed in /etc/clamav/freshclam.conf/ or make sure your are connected to the internet". Connectivity is fine.

Please advice.

Thanks.
