Chromium fails when enabling sync

Asked by Maarten Jacobs

I didn't see any other questions along similar lines, so maybe I'm the only one with this issue...

For some time now I've not been able to enable sync in Chromium - it allows me to sign into Chromium but then when I select "Sync Everything" Chromium fails.

I tried the same on Chrome on one of my Windows machines and it works without a hitch (still need to test my other Ubtuntu box).

Anybody else have this same problem? Quite obviously it is NOT my password as it works fine with the Windows version of Chrome.

Currently running Chromium "18.0.1025.151 (Developer Build 130497 Linux) Ubuntu 11.10" - from the Proposed Universe.

Is it ok from the normal repo (not proposed)?

Yes the normal repo version has the same issue... I only updated to the proposed version to see if it fixed the issue...

I'd report a bug then

Thanks Andrew. I'm doing a little bit more digging before I open a bug. The problem does not occur on a different machine, running "normal" Chromium on XUbuntu 11.10. I think it must be something specific to my one setup...

I remembered I should run the application from the command line first to get a better understanding of the failure... I get a segmentation fault as follows:

jacobsma@snellebak:~$ chromium-browser
[23875:23875:1417911815880:ERROR:extension_prefs.cc(1181)] Bad or missing pref 'version' for extension 'blpcfgokakmgnkcojhhkbfbldkacnbeo'
Segmentation fault

So I think I'll go and try to see about removing/reinstalling my extensions first...

Look in that folder for the extension and see what it is, then uninstall it

Can you help with this problem?
