"Create a vertical split" keybinding(Ctrl-F2) not working

I failed to use Ctrl-F2 keybinding to create a vertical split in GNOME terminal/Konsole/TTY, however I can use Shift-F2 to create horizontal split.

* Byobu 5.97-0ubuntu1 from official repository
