Cannot burn video in Brasero

Asked by martin i

I cannot burn a video DVD in Brasero. It will allow me to create a project, but when I click "Burn", and it opens the "Disc Burning Setup" window, the final "Burn" button is greyed out, no matter what I change.

I have tried:
   Rebooting
Removing and reinserting the blank dvd
   Recreating the project
   Restarting the application
Using different types of video files

If it helps, the drive is a Pioneer DVR-115DBK, connected to an ASUS P5E3 Premium motherboard.

Same problem here.

Ubuntu 8.10 with all updates.

Changing settings to NTSC or PAL doesn't help anything. Are any further libraries required?

I am having the same problem. In the help docs it says to add some packages to enable to enable additional features, which I did, but it didn't seem to help.

Please take a look at brasero opened bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero

Hope this helps

Marcobra, Thanks for the link. Read pretty much everything there, but
found no solution, only more partners in distress... Guess I should wait
for the next upgrade???

To martin i, MB125, Sbn, Irwan Setiadi, Marcobra, renames, Paul Lange, charwhee and Snorkel:
I may have found a solution!
When I drag the downloaded film into the CD/DVD workshop and click 'write to disk' I can name the disk, decide on the burning speed and BURN. And, lo & behold: Brasero appears and starts burning the dvd. So far the burned copies are perfect.
Problem solved?

To GreyTiger:

Your suggestion works for me, but only to create a data DVD. If you have had success with a Video DVD, please elaborate on your above comments. What is the CD/DVD workshop?

Thanks for your time.

Sorry whirledpeez if I didn't make myself clear. I meant Nautilus.
I.o.w: open Nautilus, drag your downloaded or copied film into it and
click burn to disk. Then Brasero opens the right way and you can burn
the video/dvd. Nothing greyed out this time. I hope this will work for
you. Merry Chrismas! GreyTiger

I've had the same greyed-out-button problem. Tried going through file window ("CD/DVD Creator") but the system immediately (successfully) burned data discs rather than opening Brasero. All relevant Nautilus program files seem to be installed, although I'd be glad to know what might be needed.

NOTE: For disc blanking or disc integrity check, Brasero says "No available medium," even though disks recognized by Ubuntu are in the drive and, if blank, Brasero reports "Status: the medium can be recorded."

Also, "burn" remains greyed out even if I select "create image," rather than selecting the DVD+R disc.

My Ubuntu version is up to date as of today. Drive is Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-852S. Computer is Sony Vaio VGN-SZ series.
