how to install .tar packages downloaded from sourceforge.net?

i ve downloaded the zine media player package from www.sourceforge.net.
it came in the form of a .tar file. i ve extracted it from terminal. but there isn't any rpm or deb file. pls hepl me to install

Do you mean Xine? Xine is available from repository and should be downloaded and installed with the Package Manager.
