Hello, Vikkki. :-)

Are you trying to install via "sudo apt-get install amarok"? Or are you trying to install via Synaptic Package Manager?

Also, what version of Ubuntu are you using?

version 8.01 of ubuntu. i tried to install from applications->add/remove programs.

All right, and do you use GNOME or KDE?

First, open up a terminal via Applications --> Accessories --> Terminal, and run "sudo apt-get install amarok". If this does not work, you can download the source here:
http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Download

And then use this tutorial to install the software:
