Hi
           Today I came across with anew type of bug while updating kubuntu 7.10, I tried all the tricks all in vain. the description is

ziaa@Gikian:~$ sudo apt-get update
[sudo] password for ziaa:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the list directory
ziaa@Gikian:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: status database area is locked by another process

          please help me to solve this issue

Do you have "Synaptics" or "Add/Remove Applications" open?

As I m using Kubuntu 7.10 I've Adept Manager & Add/Remove Applications but both of them r closed

Thnx Tom, I resolve the issue by first removing the mentioned folder and power off my PC.

Sir, I ask one question that from I download Java to kubuntu as I m Engineering student and to improve my Java as well as C programming.
