synaptic crash

Hi ,
I am using Ubuntu 7.10. On execution of synaptic from term my synaptic gui opens and then crashes . The error message on the term window is "segmentation fault (core dump)". Could anybody tell me how to solve this problem.

could be a memory problem. try removing or exchanging some of your ram. also you can run the memtest from the liveCD.
