libavahi-client3:i386 missing final newline

Asked by Davide

Good morning

I'm trying to upgrade my packets and install the nvidia-bl module but my terminal return the following error:

Estrazione dei template dai pacchetti: 100%
dpkg: errore fatale non recuperabile, uscita:
al file con l'elenco dei file del pacchetto "libavahi-client3:i386" manca un newline finale
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

I followed a similar thread but the problem still exist

If I send the commands: sudo updatedb; locate libavahi-client*; lsb_release -a; uname -a

this is the output:
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu

If I send the commands: clear; apt-cache policy libavahi-client3*
this is the output:

Please try this solution procedure:

http://hcmc.uvic.ca/blogs/index.php?blog=11&p=8014&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

So please run the following commands in a Terminal:

sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/*libavahi-client3*.list

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get --reinstall install libavahi-client3:i386

sudo apt-get upgrade

I'm not sure if these solutions are correct but today I started my laptop and surprise! a black screen with the "underscore" blinking .

I tried to insert all commands as suggested using the safe mode but nothing to do...
I tried apt-get update, upgrade, autoremove ...

I didn't understand what is the problem of this machine, I've installed the OS, installed updates, gnome shell, nvidia drivers, chrome, skype and nothing more... after my vacation I restarted it and ta da! rains of problems

I'm reinstalling from the scratch the system without gnome shell ...

Can you help with this problem?
