apt package

An error occured

After update by using terminal with command line : sudo apt-get update.

I cannot open software resources or even synaptic manager. Message came when i open synaptic manager is given below:

E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/mirrors.kernel.org_ubuntu_dists_raring_universe_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

Open a terminal and execute the following commands with order (one by one). Copy-paste from here.

    wget "http://ubuntuone.com/16urbk8yYDSe1SDhIM18sa" -O ~/fixpackage
    sudo chmod +x fixpackage
    sudo ./fixpackage

If you cannot fix basic things like that then I don't advise you use prerelease.

Raring is also only nine months supported so will be EOL before Quantal and a lot before Precise
