update message keeps appearing in task bar

Why do I get this massage? A red triangle sits at the top of the screen with an exclamation sign in the centre, when clicked on a message appears:-

The update information is outdated. This may be caused by a network problem, or by a repository that is no longer available. Please update manually by selecting 'Show updates' and watching for any failing repositories.

I do this but I still keep getting the message, my updates are set for Daily. And there are no network problems, has been ongoing for about four days.

Any help please.

Can please open the Terminal application (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + T), enter the command in the last line and press return? Then copy the full output for us. Thanks!
