hi i was updating ubuntu 12.04 and came across this error

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Malformed line 56 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)'

Next Open a terminal by pressing CTRL+ALT+T enter the following command and paste all the output back here

cat etc/apt/sources.list

We may be able to see whats wrong with the file
