Please give a lot more information. Also please note that upgrades are NOT data-safe. If you have little drive space, I have to ask are you fully backed up? If not, backup all data before trying anything else. Please give information on your present version, the version you want to upgrade to and your hardware, especially hard drive size and partitions. Also is Ubuntu your only operating system? If you are thingking of upgrading to 12.04, you should try the live-DVD running the 'Try Ubuntu' option before trying to upgrade. This will show you if your present hardware is able to run 12.04.

Please open a terminal and to all previous installed kernel copy and paste from here this row:

sudo apt-get purge $(dpkg --get-selections | awk '((/^linux-/) && (/[0-9]\./) && (!/'"`uname -r | sed "s/-generic//g"`"'/)) {print $1}')

Then please install bleachbit package and use it to clear your system...

Can you help with this problem?
