Will removing everything from gnome ruin my computer

Ok this is kinda stupid but im a newbee so i got synaptic. I found gnome on there wich from what i know is just a thrid pary theme program. If i remove it all will it screw up anything???

The newbie answer is that it will screw up everything, for values of everything which include icons, menus, tool bars, windows, ... DO NOT delete gnome unless you are familiar with the command line interface, and how to get to your virtual terminals, because that will be all you have left. Gnome is your interface, it's more than just the themes.

Oh, I see from your other posts you have added Gnome to an existing Unity interface. Probably you can just remove it and fall back to Unity -- No personal experience with that, I'm avoiding Unity by running 10.04.

Can you help with this problem?
