BTW---- If update manager is broke, how am I supposed to update a fix? I have 178 updates waiting as is.

I suggest you report a bug. Precise is not ready and not stable. I suggest you remove cairo dock.

It won't let me delete cairo. I'm new at this. But, Cairo sticks around....even if you try to delete it

It took forever to find out howtoget rid of cairo

I used this https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PackageManagerTroubleshootingProcedure without the last two lines

Then I downloaded synaptic and it rid my system of the rest . I hopecairo eventually works again. It sure is purty.
