Want to upgrade 8.04 to 10.04. Also cant install newer version of mozilla firefox.

I am trying to install a newer version of Mozilla firefox to Linux Ubuntu.

I am able to download everything its just i dont know how to do all that terminal stuff and completely install it.

I need like a step to step guide because i am completely new at this whole linux process!

Also i am using 8.04 and want to upgrade to the newer version that it says it offers but i will see about that, last time i tried i had to reinstall the whole thing all over again.

Please tell the issue you had by upgrading 8.04 to 10.04... then why you have not installed the Ubuntu 10.04 instead of reinstalling Ubuntu 8.04 (no more supported) ?

Going here: http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.04.4/ please made a live Ubuntu 10.04 install cd (i strongly suggest you to use torrent protocol to download the iso image)

http://releases.ubuntu.com/10.04.4/ubuntu-10.04.4-desktop-i386.iso.torrent

Made a Ubuntu 10.04.4 live install cd then boot your system from this live cd to test if you have trouble running it...

Then upgrade your system, you can use the update-manager to upgrade your Ubuntu 8.04 to 10.04

If something goes wrong please install 10.04.4 directly from install cd.

Be always sure to have a external backup of your data (usually your home directory) before to backup your data you can install and use bleachbit package to clean your system...

How do i create a live cd on ubuntu and what not? i am super new to this and have no idea how to do this! Thanks!

This will tell you how to run MD5SUM test.
When making cd burn as slow as possible.
