Files served on Ubuntu repositories and launchpadlibrarian.net

Asked by mrantims

Apparently the repositories under security.ubuntu.com and archive.ubuntu.com do not contain older versions of the software hosted on them. I found that I can download those older version of the software through the launchpad ubuntu section ( the builds which are hosted on launchpadlibrarian.net, eg: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/70663866/libapache2-mod-php5_5.2.4-2ubuntu5.15_amd64.deb).

I would like to ask if the packages served on launchpadlibrarian.net and Ubuntu repositories are identical? Will the files hosted on launchpadlibrarian and Ubuntu repos for the same versions of the same packages have the same hash values?

If they are the same file, the MD5 hash should match.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. My actual question is if the packages served on launchpadlibrarian.net and Ubuntu repositories are identical? I put the last sentence about hash values to clarify my question, but apparently it caused a misunderstanding.

The answer is, it suppose to be identical for the same deb filename. However, the packages served on launchpadlibrarian.net and Ubuntu repositories may or may not be identical depending on the synchronization of the servers you are downloading from.
