Hi William,

Have you tried installing it from the command line?

If not, open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t), type in the following and press enter:

sudo apt-get install meld

It will ask for your password and will then install meld.

Did this work? Any error messages?

Installation proceeded up this point -

Media change: please insert the disc labelled
 'Ubuntu 11.10 _Oneiric Ocelot_ - Release i386 (20111012)'
in the drive '/cdrom/' and press enter
^Cwilliam@Delta:~$
william@Delta:~$ ^C
william@Delta:~$

Disc was inserted but I'm not sure if it read anything.

@William Booker (bulwark)

How about uncheck (disable) the cdrom as source in Software Sources?
This will remove the need of CD to install your package.

Also, make sure you have enabled "universe" repository in Software Sources.
Because "meld" package is found under "universe".
Then, try again installing via Software Center, OR via Terminal by typing sudo apt-get install meld.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I got the thing working and decided it was not what I was looking for. Krusader does a better job.
