How to support auto update for own installed softare on Ubuntu?

I want to create software for Ubuntu platform.
As a part of this I want to support auto update mechanism. for this I already installed service(daemon) on Ubuntu.
through that service I want to perform auto update(In silent Manner)
so My question is that how to achieve it.

1. How to create package for Ubuntu(Linux).
2. What will my service code to achieve this.

If any one having any Idea regarding this please reply to this post ASAP........!

You can make debs of your efforts and put them on a PPA, people can then add the PPA and install the packages. You may be able to submit a suggestion on http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com to get it added to the officaial repos (it can happen).
