Problem with package manager Ubuntu natty

Hello dear ubuntu freaks

got a problem with synaptics today:

Could not initialize the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/id.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

I do not understand this: "Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:", so i am asking you to give me a hand on that matter.
I am using linux just since a couple month; so consider me a newbie... willing to learn and loving the experience...
