Failed to Download Repository Information

Asked by MetungKP

I get this error each time I run an Update.

W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/madman2k/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/madman2k/ubuntu/dists/hardy/restricted/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/madman2k/ubuntu/dists/hardy/universe/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/madman2k/ubuntu/dists/hardy/multiverse/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I might have downloaded these when I was trying to make my fingerprint scanner work. Do i just delete? How?

Thanks!

What Ubuntu version are you currently using? If it's not Hard (8.04) and if it's current then you can put # (comment out) on every lines containing 'hardy' on your sources.list file. Save and Close the you can do:

sudo apt-get update

HTH.

Natty... I will delete. I found where I got those from. I guess I didn't check the date.
