What Ubuntu Server release (i.e., version) are you using?
Can you post all the text from the command-line? If you're using a text-only console (rather than, for example, SSHing in from a graphical machine), then you can use the script command to log it to a file, then post the contents. (See http://
Please note also that while you can--and should be able--to install ubuntu-desktop on an Ubuntu Server system, you probably should not do so. A lot of the time when people do this, they either need the benefits of a dedicated server with increased performance and security and shouldn't install a GUI, or they don't need those benefits and should instead be using Ubuntu Desktop Edition (which can run the same services that Ubuntu Server can run). See https:/

OK, first go to the /etc/apt directory, and back up sources.list:
cd /etc/apt
sudo cp sources.list sources.list.old
Now, open sources.list up in an editor. This uses nano:
sudo nano -w sources.list
(The -w flag disables wrapping, so that when you're editing this configuration file, confusion does not arise about whether or not something is a line break.)
In the text editor, remove the ng. from each URL (so the URL's read http://

Hi Eliah, It still doesn't work. It seems I am the only one having this problem. Can you download Humanity-icon-theme from your system? I have tried on 2 systems now and the same problem. All other updates download perfectly except Humanity-Icon. Below is the content of my source list

"Can you download Humanity-icon-theme from your system?"
I am able to download the file http://
I do think I may have some idea, though, as to why this problem is occurring. When you run apt-get, it attempts to download and install maverick packages. But your /etc/apt/
First of all, are you sure the computer on which you edited /etc/apt/
If you are sure of that, then please run the following three commands on the machine affected by this problem and report the output (you can use script for this, if you like):
lsb_release -a
ls -l /etc/apt/
apt-cache policy
Please also let me know what version of Ubuntu Server you're running (yes, it is possible in rare cases for lsb_release to misreport that), as well as describing what technique you used to install it, or to upgrade to it if you did that.
