I get this message in the terminal "E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?"

Need help to resolve the following problem

"E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?"

I get this message while updating in the terminal, please provide solution...thanking you in advance for the wonderful you people have been working....

Please be sure you have not other package manager software open Synaptic or update-manager or other terminal with apt-get waiting a confirm... answer.

If this doesn't solve, the quick way is to reboot the pc, so all active process will be killed, and then reboot and retry...
