E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report."

pls hlp about this
i'm not able to open synaptic package manager as well sudo options for updating..........
when ever i try the above dialogue box pops out

Please open a terminal from Applications→Accessories→Terminal and type:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/gloobus-dev-gloobus-preview-maverick.list

And please drees the offending line...

Or delete the entire repository file reference, from terminal type::

sudo rm -f /etc/apt/sources.list.d/gloobus-dev-gloobus-preview-maverick.list

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter

Then type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
