volume works good until i plug in headphones, then volume decreases till silent and a reboot is neede for any volume at all

Asked by trenchview

I have been running Jaunty since release date. My volume works great until I plug in my headphones. Then, the volume gradually decreases until there is none at all. After that, I can't get any volume at all till I reboot. The volume manager shows all levels full even though there is no volume. I'm lost. Thanks, Trenchview

Thanks for the leads, Tom, but I don't see any answers there. The sound does resonate from the headphones for a few seconds before descending into silence. Also, the headphones worked fine with Gutsy Gibbon. It is only with Jaunty that I'm having this problem. Apparently I'm running Pulse-Audio so I'm going to try to remove it. Any recommendations? Thanks again, Kevin

where does the volume go? I guess this is a stumper for all concerned. here it is; the volume is working great, then I plug in my headphones. The volume begins descending till all is silence. Then I'm stuck with no volume till I re-boot. I tried looking at the two options you offered but it didn't help. Please and thanks, Trenchview

Hi :)

Please re-post a new question about this. This thread appears to have slipped through the net and needs to be seen by everyone at the front-desk again.

Hi :)

Have you been able to test the new Ubuntu 10.04 before it gets officially released?
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta1
Trying it as a LiveCd or as an extra dual/multi-boot would be ideal. Developers and everyone are keen to try to iron out any problems before 10.04 gets officially released so you might find faster & more effective answers to your bug reports which would make 10.04 work better on your system for you

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
