Yes, there are loads of different volume levels to adjust and many of them aren't immediately obvious. when you left click on the speaker icon is there a button called "Volume Control"? Otherwise a right-click should get to it. In the mixer console that pops up click the "Preferences" button and add a few channels at a time until you find the ones that are relevant to your output device (headphones, speakers, external speakers etc) and to your inputs (cd, line-in (?)). Theoretically having inputs quite high and outputs fairly low gives best quality but i have it set the exact opposite for easy of use and it's fine for me in Ubuntu. The channels i found most useful were; Master, pcm, front, surround, centre, line-in and cd - but you may find different as i have a very basic external speaker set.

If that didn't help then there are these trouble-shooting guides

Please le us know how you get on with this :)

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Click on the speaker icon - you get a volume slider and a button "Volume Control". Click on the button. A big box appears with lots of sliders. Slide the "PCM" slider up high. In that big box is another button "Preferences", click this button. Tick some more of the "Channel" boxes.

Good luck and regards from

It is not the volume control after a great deal of hunting &
experimenting, Ubuntu is not as loud on this acer as windows i found the
terminal alsamixer & got slightly more loud but still not all the way
movies are hard to hear still.

Totem movie player has it's own volume down at the bottom right hand corner. Press F11 a few times and you'll see it.

also try these guides

I'm sorry i don't know what your 1st language is. Launchpad and Ubuntu have different teams of people working in different languages so it might be good if you could try posting your question in your own language. Sadly i can only speak english :(

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
